Marche Art Treasures - 1 week or 4 nights
The Marche, although less-known than its counterparts, hides several masterpieces of the Italian Renaissance art and architecture. Urbino, perhaps the most important art city in the Marche, is home to one of Italy's most beautiful Renaissance palaces, once belonging to Duke Federico da Montefeltro. Ascoli Piceno is another town, famous not only for its beautiful main piazza and Renaissance courtyards but also its fine collection of works including two triptychs of Madonna and Child with saints by Carlo Crivelli and an exquisite piece of 13th century embroidery work of Pope Nicholas IV. We offer both weekly and 4 night breaks with the chance to visit some of the most important art galleries, museums and churches in the region and see works by artists such as Crivelli, Lorenzo Lotto, Lorenzo Salimbeni, Raphael, Pietro da Rimini and Piero della Francesca. 18-22 May: During these dates you will have the chance to go to an exhibition of Gentile da Fabriano, one of the leading painters in 15th century European art.
