Opera breaks - 2006 EXPERIENCE THE MAGIC OF THE OPEN-AIR OPERA AND THE SCENTS OF SUMMER IN A TIMELESS SETTING... | |
|
Every summer in Macerata, the Sferisterio, the second largest arena in Italy, hosts a world wide known Lyrical Season, with Puccini’s famous Turandot and Verdi’s Aida being among the operas arranged for 2006. Macerata’s neoclassical Sferisterio, built between 1823 and 1829 and based on a design by Ireneo Aleandri, was originally used for the popular sport pallone al bracciale – a local ball game . With space for over 5000 people it has an enchanting atmosphere and provides an enjoyable evening of entertainment. |
