Every summer in Macerata, the Sferisterio, the second largest arena in Italy, hosts a world wide known Lyrical Season, with Puccini’s famous Turandot and Verdi’s Aida being among the operas arranged for 2006.

Macerata’s neoclassical Sferisterio, built between 1823 and 1829 and based on a design by Ireneo Aleandri, was originally used for the popular sport pallone al bracciale – a local ball game .

With space for over 5000 people it has an enchanting atmosphere and provides an enjoyable evening of entertainment.

Secret Marche offers weekend breaks with the chance to see one or more of the spectacular performances in the open-air arena. We offer a 4-night stay in a traditional agriturismo with tours of the region, one best category opera ticket and transfers to any of the operas you wish to see during the weekend.
